Parent/Child Classes

Singing, story-songs, fingerplays, rhythmic movement and instrument play will expand a child's musical experience in a fun, non-threatening atmosphere. Accompanied by an adult, children learn new songs and refresh old favorites. Classes are education based: concepts such as color identification and music dynamics (high/low, fast/slow, loud/soft) are included in each developmentally appropriate curriculum. Everyone has fun! Each session has 10 classes.

Tiny Tunes! for children 18 mos – 2½ years old

Sing'n'Shake! for children 2½ – 4 years old

Summer Sampler – A taste of Macaroni Soup! For children 2 - 4 years old accompanied by an adult, this 3-week class introduces or continues your child's musical exposure with active, participatory music.
(Tuesday, 9:15 - 10 am, 3 weeks in June)
Due to scheduling conflicts, there will be no Sampler this summer - please take a look at Family Sing! It may be just what you're looking for!

Classes for Older Children

In the Mt. Prospect location

BIG MUSIC – for morning Kindergarteners and 4-year old pre-schoolers. This class is for kids who like music and are curious about how it's made. Lots of singing, dancing and movement. We'll learn about the science of music: vibration, sound waves, etc. We'll make our own instruments and costume pieces.

Thursdays, 1 - 2:15 pm, 7 classes, February - May only

Theater Stories and Songs! – This class, for children who have finished Kindergarten through 4th Grade, puts on a musical. The students build their sets, props, and costumes, learning about projection, staging and choreography as they rehearse. Included is a trip to professional children's theater.

10 classes at the end of June each year, call for dates. Rehearsals are 1 - 3 pm, field trip to the theater is in the morning, and dress rehearsal and performance are in the evening.

FAMILY SING! – This is a great opportunity to bring the whole family together to sing, dance and have fun! Targeted for kids 3 - 8 years old, younger and older kids enjoy it, too! Held at The South Church, 501 S. Emerson, Mt Prospect, it's live music with Miss Carole and Alvin!

WHEN: 6:45 - 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays May 28, June 18 (Grandparents Night) and July 16 (Jammin' in your Jammies Night) FEE: ALL 3 nights for $40/family, Pick 2 nights for $30/family

In Park Ridge, IL – at a local elementary school

Summer Stock Theater – sponsored by Brickton Art Center, Park Ridge. Hi diddle dee dee, an actor's life for me! Come experience all aspects of theatrical production. Classes include drama lessons, script reading, stage direction, set painting and prop making. No prior drama experience is necessary, but students must be able to read scripts and learn lines. We'll attend a professional children's theater performance. Attendance at all classes is mandatory to appear in final performance.
