This CD has won a Parents' Choice Award, and this song is a Finalist in the Best Song category for the Children's Music Web Awards! Black Bat Farm can be done with a call/response format during the verses.
Lyrics: | There was a farm (echo) (refrain:) And in that field (echo) There is a vine (echo) (refrain) And on that vine (echo) There is a pumpkin (echo) (refrain) And in that pumpkin (echo) There are some seeds (echo) (refrain) |
Tune: | Loosely based on "The Green Grass Grew All Around" – in a minor key! On my recording there's slightly spooky organ music by Donna Rubinson to blow in the song! |
This song can be done with no props/visuals – children flap their
arms like bat-wings during each refrain.
OR
Make a feltboard visual – a felt barn, bats, green yarn vine, pumpkins
and seeds.
OR
Make a bats from construction paper or funfoam (pattern below), attach
to a "scrunchy" covered hair-elastic so the children can fly
the bats during each refrain.
