Every month the song/dance/activity will change. Many of the songs will be from my Recordings. Please print the page and do the activity with your child. Teachers may print the page to use with their classes. If you have questions, Contact Me.
Listen to the whole song on Stinky Cake or hear it here:
Kids are thinking about cold weather, even if they don't live in it, because a jolly elf may be in the picture this month. But let's travel instead to the SOUTH POLE – where the penguins live! This song will liven up even the grayest day, and put a giggle in your wiggle. Look around the room – everyone looks like a penguin by the end of the song! I learned this one from British Girl Scouts! BE SURE to read the suggested book, too!
Lyrics: | Did you ever see a penguin come to tea? Verse 2: Left arm |
Movements: | Line 1/2 start out standing still |
Age Range: 3 –- 7 years old
Purpose: movement, coordination, being SILLY, and trigger adrenaline and seratonin – "happy chemicals!"
Extension Activity: Find out about penguins, the South Pole – maybe even watch a short part of "March of the Penguins" to see how real penguins move!
Book Buddy: TACKY THE PENGUIN, by Helen Lester. This is one of the funniest books ever – and there are sequels, too! Check your library, Amazon ($5.95, no shipping!) or Scholastic Books! Tacky is an odd bird, but a very nice one to have around!
