Parent/Child Classes

Singing, story-songs, fingerplays, rhythmic movement and instrument play will expand a child's musical experience in a fun, non-threatening atmosphere. Accompanied by an adult, children learn new songs and refresh old favorites. Classes are education based: concepts such as color identification and music dynamics (high/low, fast/slow, loud/soft) are included in each developmentally appropriate curriculum. Everyone has fun! Each session has 10 classes unless otherwise noted.

SUMMER SAMPLER - this is a mixed-age class for 2-4 year olds (and accompanying sibs) to keep the music going just a few more weeks before summer break!  We'll sing and move with songs about flowers, growing vegetables, and all the wonderful things we can do in great weather!  It's a great way to get a taste of Macaroni Soup!

Classes for Older Children

Drop-off classes for older children:

FALL FUN FOR 4's and 5's – this 5-week class will give children a chance to sing, dance, tap and swing with other children, AND make accompanying instruments and art projects to go with the music! Students must have turned 4 by 9/1/12 or be currently in Kindergarten.

1:30 - 2:30pm, October 18 - November 16, 2012.
Fee: $65. Limited to 10 children.

BIG MUSIC – for morning Kindergarteners and 4-year old pre-schoolers. This class is for kids who like music and are curious about how it's made. Lots of singing, dancing and movement. We'll learn about the science of music: vibration, sound waves, etc. We'll make our own instruments and costume pieces.

Thursdays, 1:30 - 2:45 pm, 7 classes, February 7 - May 2
Fee: $90 Limited to 10 children

Theater Stories and Songs! – This class, for children who have finished Kindergarten through 4th Grade, puts on a musical. The students build their sets, props, and costumes, learning about projection, staging and choreography as they rehearse.

June 5 - 21, 2013

FAMILY SING! – This is a great opportunity to bring the whole family together to sing, dance and have fun! Targeted for kids 3 - 8 years old, younger and older kids enjoy it, too! Held at The South Church, 501 S. Emerson, Mt Prospect, it's live music with Miss Carole!

In Park Ridge, IL – at a local elementary school

Summer Stock Theater – sponsored by Brickton Art Center, Park Ridge. Hi diddle dee dee, an actor's life for me! Come experience all aspects of theatrical production. Classes include drama lessons, script reading, stage direction, set painting and prop making. No prior drama experience is necessary, but students must be able to read scripts and learn lines. We'll attend a professional children's theater performance. Attendance at all classes is mandatory to appear in final performance.
