The Wiggle Song

Listen to the whole song on Sticky Bubble Gum ... and Other Tasty Tunes or hear it here:

It's time to get rid of the post-Halloween sugar jiggles and work off some holiday dinners – before the fact! For us Northern states, it's also a way to warm up as our temperatures fall! But don't forget to look up the previous November Song of the Month selections – "The Turkey Hop" is perfect for this time of year!

Lyrics:

My hands are starting to wiggle
My hands are starting to wiggle
My hands are starting to wiggle
Around and around and around!

Verse 2: Foot

Verse 3: Hips

Verse 4: Head (sing softly)

Verse 5: Now all of me is a-wiggle

Movements:

wiggle whatever body part you're singing about – and turn around on the last line, hands held high.

Age Range: 18 mos – 6 years old

Purpose: movement, coordination, body part identification, move vestibular fluid in brain, trigger adrenaline and seratonin - "happy chemicals!"

Extension Activity: Make jello – the original "wiggly" food.

Songs to couple with this one: Jelly in the Bowl (fingerplay) on Tiny Tunes, and "Shake Your Sillies Out" by Raffi – use maracas, bottle shakers, egg shakers, beanbags – anything that shakes!

Jello
